Green Chain Handler

Summary This position includes knowledge of lumber and grade rules. Demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze large amounts of wood.

Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Feeds boards by placing boards on feeder for processing.*

  2. Removes boards after processing. *

  3. Communicates with team and leader to improve safety operating performance.*

  4. Meets job expectations.*

  5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities

  • Time management

  • Good oral and written communication

  • Good attendance

  • Follow safety rules

  • Able to work some nights and weekends

  • Clean up of area

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.
